Allison Shaw
Born in England in 1941, Allison Shaw worked and travelled in Europe, Canada and the U.S.A before arriving in Australia in 1968.
She always took her oils and brushes on her travels and endless subjects demanded to be painted. The woods and fields of her childhood gave way to castles on the Rhine and the majesty of the Canadian Rockies - and finally the Australian bush and wide open spaces
Over the years painting became more and more important in her life and since 1970 she has been painting full time.
With her husband, artist Geoff McKenzie, she has undertaken many painting tours to various parts of Australia and to England and Europe. At one time they had their studio on Magnetic Island, North Queensland and have since operated their own studio galleries at Guildford and Anglesea in Victoria and Burleigh Heads, Miami, Woombye and Montville in Queensland. They are now based on Queensland's Sunshine Coast and continue their travels every year to find new subject matter and inspiration.
Allison has always been inspired by the endless diversity of the Australian landscape. Her unique talent lies in capturing the essence and mystery of the bush on a misty morning, or the shimmering reflections in a hidden waterhole. Her oils have a universal appeal, resulting in many successful exhibitions in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Her works may be found in collections throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as U.S.A., Canada, U.K, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong.
